3:15pm - Rituals Refresher - what Scottish touches and traditions can you add to your ceremony? With Independent Humanist Ceremonies

Why do people drink from a quaich? Is a handfasting more than just a fancy ribbon? How about jumping the broom – what’s that all about? Scottish celebrants from Independent Humanist Ceremonies offer a show and tell guide of everything you can include in your wedding ceremony to pay homage to both Scottish traditions and some from across the globe too.

    About Independent Humanist Ceremonies

SATURDAY: Beverley started her career writing for Jackie magazine before moving into marketing, lecturing and teaching. As someone who has been telling stories in one way or another all her life, she now tells the stories of couples from Scotland and beyond.

A vibrant person, she describes herself as having warmth and a bit of character. She trained as a professional storyteller around 20 years ago, specialising in Scottish culture, so she’s quite the expert when it comes to Scottish wedding traditions.

She has been working with Independent Humanist Ceremonies for the last eight years and in that time, she has been a finalist in multiple prestigious industry awards.

SUNDAY: Craig Flowers is a Falkirk-based celebrant who has been working full-time in his role at Independent Humanist Ceremonies since 2010. Over the years he has helped hundreds of couples perfect their dream day, enjoying the challenge of delivering a personalised service that is moulded around the couple’s wishes. He has won ‘Scottish Celebrant of the Year’ in both 2022 and 2024, as well as claiming the title of ‘UK Celebrant of the Year’ in 2023. His mantra is ‘it’s your day, let’s do it your way!’
